Ashy Sunflower or Hairy Sunflower has grayish green foliage and lemony yellow 3 to 4 inch flowers blooming between July and October. Native Ashy Sunflower is a widespread, characteristic species of upland prairies often found growing in colonies and prefers average to rich, well drained soil and full sun. Excellent nectar food source for butterflies and songbirds.
